Your nonprofit does so much good, shouldn’t it speak for itself?

When we have the best product, the best service, or the best organization we secretly think we can get away without marketing. I mean shouldn’t the sheer awesomeness of what your nonprofit does speak for itself?

But building something amazing isn’t enough if it can’t reach the people who need to know about it.

Marketing is an amplifier. The fact that you have a hit song doesn’t mean you don’t need to promote it. If it’s so good it gives you even more reason to freakin blast it everywhere.

You’re doing a disservice to everyone if you keep it to yourself or only play a fragment of the song, so they can’t experience how magnificent it is.

Do I wish we lived in a world where organizations as good as yours didn’t have to do marketing to have a tremendous impact & your message reached? Hell yes.

(don’t worry about me, I'll find a new career.)

But until then, I’ll tell you this. Not marketing or doing a mediocre job marketing your cause is outright selfish.

There are people that want to hear your message and join your mission but they don't know you exist. Or they know you exist but they don’t really understand just how valuable and unique you are.

You’ve got a hit song. Don’t keep it to yourself. Go blast it everywhere.
